The Process

Ore to Doré

Our three processing plants — located in Ghana, Tanzania, and Mali — are designed to handle the specific ore characteristics of each region. Each plant operates under ISO 14001 environmental management certification and is subject to quarterly independent audits.

We achieve gold recovery rates above 92% — significantly above the industry average of 85% — through a combination of gravity pre-concentration and optimised CIL circuit design.

Six-Stage Process
01

Crushing & Grinding

Run-of-mine ore is crushed and ground to liberate gold particles from the host rock. We use energy-efficient SAG and ball mills to minimise power consumption per tonne processed.

Gravity Concentration

Centrifugal concentrators recover coarse free gold early in the process, reducing the volume of material requiring chemical treatment and improving overall recovery rates.

Carbon-in-Leach (CIL)

Finely ground ore is leached with a dilute cyanide solution in the presence of activated carbon, which adsorbs dissolved gold. Our CIL circuits achieve recovery rates above 92%.

Elution & Electrowinning

Gold is stripped from the loaded carbon using a hot caustic solution, then recovered by electrowinning onto steel wool cathodes — producing a high-grade gold sludge ready for smelting.

Smelting

Gold sludge is smelted in induction furnaces to produce doré bars — an alloy of gold and silver. Our doré typically assays at 85–92% gold before final refining.

Tailings Management

Processed tailings are deposited in engineered, lined storage facilities with real-time seepage monitoring. We progressively reprocess historic tailings to recover residual gold and reduce our environmental footprint.
